Why Should Endurance Athletes Seek Massage Therapy?

As an athlete, you will undoubtedly spend many hours debating the merits and downfalls of the newest, most innovative equipment, training methods, and nutritional plans.  Opinions have been, and will continue to be, debated for those subjects; but, there is one aspect of athletic health that we believe everyone can agree upon when it comes to maintaining optimal performance: the benefits of a well received massage.

Throughout history, athletes of all levels have incorporated massage into their training and recovery regimens.  In recent decades, more and more research has reinforced what many athletes have already known – that massage:

  • Alleviates post-training soreness and stiffness
  • Minimizes spasms
  • Helps prevent injury
  • Facilitates faster recovery
  • Increases range of motion and flexibility
  • Contributes to joint and postural integrity
  • Relieves mental stress and anxiety
  • Promote awareness of body performance
