Before Your Visit

  • Drink plenty of water before and after the massage.  Water will help to hydrate, clean and detoxify your body of metabolic waste that was flushed out of muscles during massage.  This will promote faster recovery from soreness and fatigue.
  • Please be cognizant of personal hygiene.
  • Communication is important in getting the most benefits.  We value, care, and respect what you have to say so please, be present, know your boundaries, and tell me your goals, likes/dislikes, and preferences for the session.
  • If you have a preferred lotion/oil and music you want to use, bring it in and we will incorporate them into your session.
  • The choice to disrobe or not is entirely up to you and your comfort level.  There are many ways to approach bodyworks and I will work with your comfort level.  If you do choose to disrobe, you will be covered with a sheet for the duration.
  • For any significant injuries and illnesses, please let us know ahead of time.  I might need to consult your doctor for the best possible care.

After Your Visit

  • Drink plenty of water before and after the massage.  Water will help to hydrate, clean your body of metabolic waste and toxins that was flushed out of muscles during massage.  This will promote faster recovery from soreness and fatigue.
  • Go for a walk afterward or do some light movement therapy.  This will help your body to integrate changes from the session.
  • For therapeutic purposes, it might be a good idea for you to keep a journal detailing your recovery.  This will give you a way to track your progress, note any changes you might feel, and have an idea of what works and does not work for you.  You will mostly likely be pleasantly surprised by your progress when reviewing the journal.
  • General rule of thumb regarding hydrotherapy: use ice to reduce inflammation/swelling on tendons and ligaments, and use heat to relief soreness and stiffness for muscles.
  • It is normal to feel sore in areas being worked on within the first 72 hours after a deep tissue session.  This is part of the healing process.  My recommendation is to continue to drink plenty of water to hydrate your soft tissues and to use hydrotherapy to lessen soreness and inflammation.
  • Ease gently into your routine.
